A New Heart . . . |

Yesterday was a day that I'll never forget, and I know many others will be the same way. Less than a month ago 10-month-old Jhett Skaggs, the son of my dear friends and Limousin breeders, Brian and Audra Skaggs of Lexington, OK, stopped breathing twice within a two day period. Both times his parents administered CPR and he was rushed to the hospital. The doctors at Children's Hospital in Oklahoma City determined that his heart had one ventricle larger than the other and this was causing to him have these "mini-heart attack" episodes. They told them in OKC that he would need a transplant. Long story short -- within a few days he was transferred to Houston to the Texas Children's Hospital. There they first put him on a heart bypass machine while they ran tests to determine that he qualified for a heart transplant. Then a few days later they performed another surgery to install a Berlin Heart machine. An amazing machine that isn't even approved by the FDA yet, except for on a case by case basis. He was also put on the top of the transplant list at this time. Yesterday was truly an incredible day. As many of the friends of Jhett Skaggs' family prepared for the Jhett Skaggs Benefit Auction, we received word that Jhett was getting a new heart! WOW! For all that to happen on the same day as the auction is almost surreal! But it was for real. Last night as we raised $105,000 in the benefit auction and steak dinner for over 200 people, Jhett was being prepped for surgery. He received his new heart and had his first heartbeat with it about 2 am today. So far things look good. His parents said he looked wonderful today. This is an amazing story that truly shows how many of us in the cattle business are really like one big family. This is a great example of putting personal gain aside and showing compassion for other human beings. I am so proud that I have the opportunity to work with a company like EDJE Technologies that can be so compassionate towards a cause such as this. Ed was gracious enough to donate the EDJE Cast as well as a web page and email blasts to help promote the cause. Yesterday was a great day, and I hope that all of you will join me in continuing to pray for Jhett and his new heart. Also lift up the family who lost a child yesterday. In closing, here's a scripture that Jhett's mom has shared with many: My heart is fixed, o God, my heart is fixed! I will sing and give praise. Psalms 57:7 Shari Holloway |

| Mrs. Holloway, I would like to take the opportunity to thank you for everything you have done for Audra and Brian and Baby Jhett. The Friendship and Compassion you and your "Team" have demonstrated is truely remarkable. I check thepigpage.com every day (I'm an Ag Teacher in Texas and always lookin' to find the next great one!) and to my surprise there was your blog about my cousin Audra's son. Ya'll are amazing people with an awesome purpose. Please continue to pray for Jhett and Brian and Audra. You don't need to post this but you are correct in saying yesterday was a wonderful day. Thanks again, Josh Hargis |

| Shari, please pass along my deepest gratitude to your organization and employer for allowing you to use this far-reaching site to spread the word about our Baby Jhett. Prayers have been answered, but more are needed as Jhett continues to heal and we ask that everyone continue to pray for the family. We also ask that everyone pray for the donor's parents who made the heart-wreching but loving decision to provide organs for other children. What loving people they must be. Shari, you have been so totally awesome! Words cannot express our thanks and gratitude. |

| Just wanted to say that is so very awesome how everyone came together for that little boy and his family! I came upon your website by accident. I was searching for some information on meat goats in order to purchase one for my daughter and just had to read on about Jhett. I hope the best for all of you and a big THANK YOU to all of you for helping them out. My prayers are with you all. God Bless! |

The Bozeman Farms website is a tribute to Big Dud, a 66 year-old cattleman, farmer and landowner that had a quiet and understated demeanor, with an aversion towards being away from Flora. But, these traits belied his passion as a benefactor to many organizations and as a champion of many causes.
Dudley R. Bozeman died from complications associated with bronchial pneumonia Thursday, May 24, 2007 at the Mississippi Baptist Medical Center. In addition to the tribute to "Big Dud" you can find information on their Limousin cattle operation, farm, and soon to come deer hunting packages. |
